On December 5, 2024, the “Environmental Education in VR” workshop took place, bringing together professionals, technology enthusiasts, and environmental education advocates at the conference hall in Galați, Aleea Lalelelor Nr. 10, as well as online. With a diverse and interactive program, the event stood out for the opportunities it provided for participants to learn and explore how virtual reality (VR) can contribute to a more sustainable future.
Innovation and Collaboration through ReGreen VR
The event was part of the ReGreen VR project, funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014–2021, which aims to use VR for education and ecosystem restoration. Vlad Ionuț opened the workshop with an engaging presentation on the project’s progress, highlighting how technology can help develop environmental awareness among the public.
Hands-On Tutorials and Interactive Sessions
The workshop featured a series of highly engaging sessions, including:
Dragoș Diță impressed the audience with a live tutorial on creating game assets, providing valuable insights into 3D modeling and importing assets into Unity.
Alexandru Căpățînă presented the ProClean Lakes project, exploring its synergies with ReGreen VR and highlighting the impact of interdisciplinary collaborations.
Constantin Damian led a comprehensive session on character creation, from concept to animation, captivating both artists and VR developers.

The workshop provided a unique opportunity for participants to discover the latest trends in VR and interact with experts in the field. Attendees had the chance to ask questions, test new concepts, and build valuable professional connections.
