On 13 April 2018, we witnessed the official launch of the Creative Industries Cluster called “OpenHub“. This body, born out of a non-governmental and non-profit initiative, was developed in Galati to serve as a collaborative space where members can work together and take advantage of the region’s multiple benefits.
At the event, the focus was on the untapped potential of Galati County, with the hope that this cluster will boost the economic attractiveness of the area. Creative industries are essential for the dynamic development of Romania’s South East Region, making a crucial contribution to the evolution of society in areas where traditional economies have not been effective.
The concept of “creative industries” has been defined and explored, highlighting areas ranging from architecture and design to software and interactive video games. With a continuously growing market in both Europe and Romania, the need for adaptability and innovation is evident.
The OpenHUB cluster vision was the focus of attention, presenting itself as an open forum for representatives of the creative industrial sector. It aims at cooperation and dialogue between companies, organisations and entrepreneurs, with the objective of realising joint projects and innovative partnerships at regional level.
The main objectives of the OpenHUB cluster were discussed in detail. These include sustainable development of its members, supporting creative activities through training and courses, promoting innovation and representing the interests of the sector to state bodies.
Finally, the transformation of OpenHub into this cluster is seen as a natural evolution of the community. With this reorganisation, more stable collaboration, better representation of the community and increased commitment to partners, speakers and volunteers are expected.
