OpenHub, in partnership with the NGO ‘Cultural Studies Lab’, has launched the innovative project ‘In the Footsteps of Eminescu’, supported by the European Union through the House of Europe program. This project highlights the poetry of Mihai Eminescu through augmented reality (AR) technology, offering a unique and interactive cultural experience.
The AR application ‘In the Footsteps of Eminescu’ transforms the way the public interacts with Eminescian poetry. Users can access the link https://eminescuplaces.com/ to explore places associated with Mihai Eminescu in Chernivtsi and Bucharest and to see Eminescu’s poems in Ukrainian and Romanian, through augmented reality on their smartphones.
The project merges modern technology with literary heritage, offering a new perspective on Eminescu’s work. Using the AR application, Eminescu’s poems ‘appear’ in the air, creating an immersive and captivating experience for users. This innovative approach attracts both young people and those passionate about classic literature, opening new ways to appreciate culture and literature.
The ‘In the Footsteps of Eminescu’ project not only brings a new dimension to Eminescu’s work but also demonstrates the potential of augmented reality in the cultural and educational fields. Openhub and the ‘Cultural Studies Lab’ are proud to be pioneers in this intersection of technology and culture, facilitating a deeper connection between the public and Eminescu’s work.
