Date: November-December 2020
Locaton: virtual
For some time now, the Leru.ro online shop of good deeds has been in full swing and has become an annual initiative supporting the education of children with precarious material situations in the counties of Galati, Braila, Vrancea and Vaslui. If you haven’t yet heard about the impressive impact this year, here’s a recap.
Due to the pandemic, this year’s Night(s) of the Elves was virtual and each volunteer gave 120% of themselves to reach their goal.
How does Leru.ro work?
Donation: Individuals and companies can donate products or services of interest, either at a fixed price or for auction. Online shops can also offer valuable vouchers.
Purchase for donation: On Leru.ro, you can buy products, services or vouchers on offer. The money you spend goes back into the community, thanks to the generosity of our online partners.
Tablets for education: A simple gesture, but with a big impact: the donation of 500 lei, which is spent on the purchase of a tablet.
Direct donations: everyone can contribute amounts from 10 lei upwards to support the cause.
This year’s impact
Thanks to collective efforts, the NGO OpenHub in Galati has raised significant amounts of money. In partnership with the Children’s Heart Foundation, we not only reached the goal of purchasing 50 tablets equipped with interactive manuals and free internet access, but we also supported the online sale of handmade products from the Children’s Heart Workshop.
The innovation was a solution to the problems created by online schooling, a difficult reality for children from disadvantaged families. The Leru.ro campaign succeeded in reducing inequalities, giving 50 pupils the chance to participate in online school.
In addition, the Inima de Copil Workshop, which supports mothers and vulnerable people by offering them jobs, had its products exhibited on Leru.ro. The sale of these products directly supported jobs and the lives of those in need.
