On 6 December, Open Hub and Thecon, in partnership with the Galati Community Foundation, made the dream come true by organizing the charity event “Night of the Elves”. The initiative was geared towards creating the largest online store of good deeds, www.leru.ro, where people from Galati had the opportunity to donate expertise, services and products to support projects with significant impact in the local community.
They all gathered at Thecon’s headquarters in Galati, 9 Siderurgiștilor Street, PS2, where, for 8 hours, professionals from IT and other related fields worked hard to build the online platform. The effort was also supported by online specialists, social media, photographers and local artisans. Together, at the end of the night, they proudly launched their online store of good deeds.
After the launch of www.leru.ro, people had the chance to donate various products and services, which were then purchased by those eager to contribute to projects such as the Științescu Programme and the Generations Programme, both supported by the Galati Community Foundation.
The website www.leru.ro has become a central point where people from Galati can be informed about the donation collection points and the rules of the campaign.
About the three organisers:
- Open Hub from Galati, founded in 2012, is known for its IT&C exchanges, providing a learning and networking platform for both students and professionals.
- Thecon is a leader in providing SEO, WebDesign and SEM solutions, with online marketing experts who have extensive industry knowledge.
- The Galati Community Foundation, established in October 2015, is a central pillar in directing resources to the needs of the community, being in permanent contact with local NGOs and having a solid network of donors.
This collaboration between the three entities highlighted the power of the community to mobilize for a good cause, bringing to the forefront the importance of philanthropy and its positive impact on society.
