This summer, I learned how many ideas it takes to get a city moving. On the 4th of July, the Open Hub Just Pitch! branded event brought together 5 creative business ideas that competed for the top prize offered by BCR. For this event, the Open Hub team prepared for weeks in an attempt to offer a complete experience of access to entrepreneurial know-how to the people of Galati. Slowly but surely, we discovered how a city can be set in motion.
The Just Pitch Chronicle!
The Just Pitch! event was opened by Claudiu Florea, Learning Coach, Marketing expert and moderator of the discussions. The topic of Romanian entrepreneurship and local success stories were debated by experts in the field who wanted to share their vision on the possibilities of a community’s progress. Among the speakers, we list Enyko Matius – InnoHub Coordinator, Anamaria Nisa – Communication and Community Relations Coordinator BCR Constanta, and Radu Oprea – President of the Patronage of Young Entrepreneurs in the South-East Region (PTIR-SE) and Vice-President of the National Council of Small and Medium-Sized Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR). At the end of the presentations, we were able to outline an overall vision of the possibilities for strengthening the Galician community, bringing together the three distinct points of view under a common denominator: entrepreneurship.
The 3 presentations were followed by a short networking break where the audience, speakers, competitors and jury members (Geraldine Ghineț, Cristian Stoleru and Alex Dumitrașcu) could exchange ideas and business cards. The pitching itself started with Oana Zbârcea whose business idea is based on a recycled and biodegradable packaging factory. The next aspiring entrepreneur was Ana Maria Toader, with a wine business proposal, and then Tudorel Burdui presented how he plans to take Speed Stacking to the next level. Last but not least were Doina Susanu and Roxana Dediu’s pitches which focused on handmade journals and 3D printing services.
The lucky winners of the prizes offered by BCR were Roxana Dediu (the Grand Prize) and Ana Toader (the Popularity Prize), and the real winners who will enjoy the inventiveness of these creative minds are us, the people of Galati.
Thank you to all the guests and sponsors who made this event possible: Galati City Hall, BCR, Thecon, Adquest Image, Active Mall, Elco, Kinelink, Picture Perfect, Martens SA.
