Galați, June 29, 2024 – The port area of Galați witnessed an event dedicated to environmental protection and urban cleanliness, known as the “Anti-Plastic March.” Organized by the Galați Community Foundation, Grow Up Galați, and Openhub, with support from Lidl Romania, Mai Mult Verde Association, and the Association for Community Relations, the event brought together dozens of volunteers eager to contribute to a cleaner city and the protection of Romania’s waters.
An Active Morning for a Noble Cause
08:30 – Cleanup Operation
The day began early at 08:30, when participants gathered at the Docker’s Statue, the designated meeting point for the cleanup operation. Equipped with gloves, trash bags, and contagious enthusiasm, volunteers set off in groups to collect waste, actively contributing to a cleaner environment. This initiative not only improved the city’s appearance but also raised awareness among residents about the importance of maintaining cleanliness.
09:30 – The Anti-Plastic March
After an hour of environmental cleanup, volunteers regrouped for the Anti-Plastic March along the Danube Promenade. This was the highlight of the event, where participants wore special T-shirts and carried reusable bottles provided by the organizers, symbolizing their commitment to reducing plastic use.
