The economic and cultural life of Galati has developed around the Shipyard, the River Port, the Steelworks and the Mineral Port, being generally perceived as an industrial city. Today, many of the companies or industrial entities that contributed to the local economy have been closed, demolished or have been transformed into real estate businesses. Pulse of the economy
Galati’s economy is thus mainly sustained by a few industrial companies with foreign capital (Ex ArcelorMittal, Damen Shipyard, METEX BIG S.A., ALEWIJNSE), while there is a worrying downward trend in attracting domestic and especially foreign investors.
There are many advantages of Galati County that are still unexploited to their true potential and that can support the economic attractiveness of this area, making it a growth pole of national and European importance in the next period.
The economic life of the most populated city of the South-East region can be boosted by important resources such as: the geographical position with an exit to the Danube and implicit river shipping with a port structure, the existence of good telecommunication networks, a rail transport network and transport infrastructure, the agricultural potential due to the suitable relief, but also the high level of training
of the population as well as the rich cultural and historical resources.
From the economic and cultural perspective of the South East Region of Romania, the activities of the creative industries are extremely important because of their dynamic and not just static economic value, making a vital contribution to the development of society where traditional economies, based on agriculture, industry or trade, have not functioned.

What is a cluster?
IWithin the framework of a strategic vision, the Innovative Cluster “Open HUB” was created by the common will of the founding members, as an open structure that aims to represent the interests of all creative industries in the region, nationally and internationally. The main role in the development of this vision will be represented by the cluster, through the association of entities from the field of creative industries, being a suitable framework
