On November 29, 2018, Galați witnessed the third edition of the “8 Hours Overwork” project, organized by the Galați Community Foundation in collaboration with OpenHub. Over twenty specialists from various fields such as IT, marketing, and web design came together to provide voluntary support to local non-profit organizations. Their efforts, stretching into the early hours of the day, aimed at addressing the managerial and IT challenges of NGOs, thus contributing to community development.
In a creative and vibrant atmosphere, volunteers worked in teams on eight specific themes, each directly related to the respective missions of the NGOs. This specialized intervention not only provided practical solutions to the costly problems of organizations but also created an opportunity for learning and collaboration between experts and the non-profit sector.
The NGOs that participated:
- United Cristian Aid Bunul Samaritean Association
- Galati Patients Association
- Zambet de Copil Galati Association
- Sporting Club Galati Association for Persons with Disabilities
- “Se Poate Si Altfel” Prosalvita Association
- Education & Support Sphere
- YMTS Youth Movement for Tomorrow’s Society
- Galati Community Foundation
The Galați Community Foundation and OpenHub, through this project, emphasized the importance of expertise donations, which have a profound impact on both NGOs and the specialist community. This event not only increased the capacity of organizations to make a difference in the community but also enriched the professional experience of volunteers.
The “8 Hours Overwork” project demonstrates how generosity and sharing expertise can have a multiplying effect in supporting community causes and building a better Galați.
